About the Business
Groovy Foods began in 2007 when Duncan was bought two pigs for Valentines Day, they were named Dot and Trevor and they lived a very happy outdoor life on our farm. We endeavoured to make their life Groovy by sourcing fresh vegetables for them and Duncan would often sing to them. We had no qualms about eating them, safe in the knowledge they'd had a good life. We wanted to know that the meat we were eating had lived an outdoor and happy life, and so Groovy Foods was born!
We supplied family and friends with pork and our Lincolnshire sausages we made in our kitchen on a tiny hand operated sausage machine. With Rachael's Dad being a beef farmer we then decided to use the cattle as well, enabling us to have our own pork and beef.
In June 2011 Rachael left her job as a primary school teacher to have our daughter Poppy. Being at home meant we could become more commercial and we converted our garage into a rustic farm shop and installed a large fridge meaning we could now butcher from home.
